Different companies and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have turned up for the opening day of the 2026 Kira Municipal Council Annual Trade Expo 2026 aimed at promoting local businesses and connecting manufacturers directly to customers.
The expo, organized under the theme “Driving Inclusive Social and Economic Transformation,” is targeting at least 350 exhibitors drawn from different sectors of the economy.
According to organizers, Kira Municipality is among the fastest-growing urban centers in Uganda, with a steadily rising number of investors and entrepreneurs, making it an ideal location to support local businesses and strengthen taxpayer participation in economic activities.
Speaking during the opening of the expo, organizer Kasule Hanifa said this year’s exhibition is designed not only to support businesses but also to help the public access information and services offered by government institutions.
“Our target is 350 exhibitors, including government agencies like NIRA and Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation,” Hanifa said.
She explained that the expo is intended to provide businesses with a platform to showcase products, expand customer awareness, and increase market penetration within the community.
“The expo helps businesses expand customer awareness, increase market penetration, and showcase their products to the community,” she added.
Exhibitors participating in the trade expo said the event gives them an opportunity to directly market their products to consumers while encouraging the public to trust and support locally made goods in line with the Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) initiative.
Participants noted that exhibitions of this nature are important in strengthening local production, increasing visibility for SMEs, and creating direct interaction between businesses and consumers.
The 2026 Kira Municipal Council Annual Trade Expo officially started on May 14 and is expected to run until May 17, 2026.
